Newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz will be officially unveiled today as he begins work with the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The experienced Portuguese tactician takes charge of the four-time African champions following the dismissal of Otto Addo last month, after Ghana suffered back-to-back defeats against Austria and Germany in their build-up to the global tournament.

Queiroz arrives with a wealth of international experience, having previously managed Portugal, Egypt and Colombia. He is expected to lead Ghana’s World Cup campaign, scheduled for June and July across Canada, Mexico and the United States.

According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the unveiling will take place at 1:00 pm at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, where Queiroz will meet the media for the first time in his new role.

He is expected to outline his tactical philosophy, present his vision for the national team, and take questions from journalists as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.

The event will also serve as his official introduction to Ghanaian supporters, while setting the tone for coordination between the technical team, media and stakeholders ahead of the World Cup.

Queiroz is expected to immediately oversee Ghana’s final warm-up matches against Mexico and Wales on June 2 before the tournament kicks off.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama on June 17, England on June 23, and Croatia on June 27.

Widely respected for his tournament experience, Queiroz has previously guided South Africa to World Cup qualification in 2002, reached the knockout stages with Portugal in 2010, and led Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions.

His appointment is viewed as a move aimed at restoring stability and improving Ghana’s World Cup fortunes following early exits in 2014 and 2022.
